South Korea Oil Spill

10 12 2007

Shock horror I bought “The Business Times”. I couldn’t find “The Financial Times” anywhere near my neighbourhood. I think I have to Google them to find out where I can get it or if I should get it delivered to my door step… Spending money that I don’t have again… *sighs* Anyway if you haven’t been reading the news, there has been an oil spill in South Korea. It’s hit Taean, based on wikipedia it’s a province in South Korea famous for it’s national park and 30 beaches. The clean up operation according to “The Business Times” Monday December 10 2007 will “drag on for 2 months”. Check out the online story here from physorg titled:

Oil Spill Reaches South Korea Shoreline from PhysOrg.com

(AP) — Residents and emergency workers used buckets to remove dense crude oil from South Korea’s western shore as the Coast Guard struggled in high waves and strong winds to contain the country’s largest oil spill Saturday.

Since this spill, prices rates are predicted to be higher the next time round for the supertankers to deliver more crude oil. How high will oil prices increase by in 2008? It looks like it will be costly.

Oh WHAT?!

12 10 2007

Great… my computer’s 17 inch LCD monitor decided to die on me without giving me a warning sign. Usually I get the flicker of the lights or the sudden one color distortion. Just my luck right? But on the other hand, luckily my 13 inch CRT monitor which is bigger than the size of my head still works with me although it is giving me warning signs of flickering colors and how darkness to brightness will be a sudden change. Been really busy trying to finish my assignments. I haven’t even started on the one I have to hand in on Monday. Besides that though all is sweet I guess and it isn’t as bad as I had imagined. I can still work with what I’ve got… just that I have to make a few more trips to Best Denki and run more errands. Why is it when I am financially tight on money, there are so many things I want to get and there are so many more bills I seem to have to pay? *Scratches head* I even brought office work home again tonight… I think I have a problem with my love to work eh?

Blog with Ads On

13 09 2007

I was contemplating if I wanted to put ads on my blog but realised after signing up with Nuffnangs and reading wordpress’s FAQ all night last night, I won’t be having any ads for a long while if I ever want to add javascript into any of my code in wordpress. I really like wordpress…

What is the reason behind in my sudden motive of wanting to join such communities?

It was mostly to try and see if I can get some extra money on the side to assist in buying myself a camera to take photos of where I go and see. I only work 1-2 days a week in an office now and the rest of the time I am at school or at home on the internet to do my projects / surf / blog (suppose to be studying). I don’t have a social life since that requires mingering with large groups *shudders at the thought (scared of people)* and spending more money just to catch up and have coffee. Wait for it! Once in awhile that’s alright because financially that is in my budget. But if I went ever week I would definitely be pushing my limits.

I am definitely not Leonardo Fibonnaci (some Italian mathematician) but if I attempted to calculate my costs:

$50-$120 (approx $80) if I go out with friends for coffee, dinner + movie (1 outing)
$150 in telephone / internet bills
$100 in contribution of household bills

So taking that as estimation, if I went out ever week with my friends $80 x 4 + $150 + $100… I would need about $570 a month. This excludes shopping for clothes, transportation and necessities. I don’t think I earn that much in a month let alone have enough side cash to buy some luxury items. Dear camera and note to self… you will have to be patient…
